For so long, Noosa has been the postcard of the Sunshine Coast – and for a good reason! It’s stunning and popular, but if you want to go beyond the predictable and you’ll find there’s much more to the Sunshine Coast than fashionable Noosa.
The next beach south of Noosa is über-cool Sunshine Beach – a hideaway for holidaymakers wanting peace and quiet with a little style thrown in.
Head further south and come upon Peregian Beach – a charming local village powered by a community intent on healthy sustainable living and keeping out the “fat cat” developers and fast-food chains. The shopping square is full of unique designers and independent traders, and it’s surrounded by national parkland. Paul and I love surfing here!
If you are keen for a hike, climb to the top of Mount Coolum for a 360 degree views of the Sunny Coast.
If putting on your hippie hat and heading inland is more your bag, then Maleny is for you. Green, lush, undulating dairy country sits alongside beautiful forest and striking views of the Glasshouse Mountains. The heart of the village is Maple Street with organic food shops and eclectic fashion stores, as well as bookshops and local artisan places. The art scene is flourishing, so expect lots of galleries, and there are plenty of rainforest walks, lakes and waterfalls to discover in the area.
