How To Plan For Your Next Camping Trip

The great outdoors offers freedom and adventure. And, there is no better way to enjoy it than under canvas

Camping lets you get closer to nature. You can fall asleep under a blanket of stars on a perfect pitch-black sky, and wake up to the sound of birds and the feel of dew on the grass.

If you’re planning on taking a camping trip anytime soon, then you’ll want to make sure that you have all of the essentials. The last thing that you’ll need to happen is for you to get to where you want to stop the night and find that you’re missing something essential.

As Lord Robert Baden Powell said; ‘be prepared’.

Here is everything that you need to pack for your camping trip.

The Tent

Of course, you couldn’t go camping without a tent. Pick a lightweight tent that will be easy to transport and unpack. Ideally, you’ll want it to be large enough that you are comfortable in it, especially if you are sharing it.

Think about what the weather will be like where you’re camping. If it’s liable to rain, make sure your tent is going to be waterproof enough to withstand this.

Think about ventilation, but be sure that you get a tent that doesn’t allow the bugs in.

Before you head off on your camping trip, check that you have enough tent pegs. You should ideally have a couple of spares with you too. Remember to take a mallet for knocking in your tent pegs.

Camping Accessories

You’ll need a whole array of additional items to make your camping experience pleasant. Get a sleeping back that is both lightweight, and warm. Temperatures can often drop in the night and you’ll want to feel comfortable.  Having a camping multi-tool is equally essential.

Pack some insect repellant. You will encounter bugs, and the last thing that you want is to get covered in bites. That being said, it is inevitable that you will experience a couple of bites, so you should always pack some insect bite spray.

Bring a high-power torch. Make sure it has fresh batteries or is fully charged.

A small gas stove will help you to cook some basic meals. Bring a small frying pan and you can cook an entire meal in one single pan. Make sure that your gas tank is full.

Pack food that is practical to carry and that won’t spoil out of a refrigerator.

Plan For Emergencies

If anything goes wrong on your camping trip, you’ll need to make sure that you can get in touch with whoever you need to help you out. Bring an emergency phone charger so that you can recharge your phone while you’re out in the wild.

Take maps with you and, if possible, a device with google maps installed.

Pack a multitool. You never know where you will need one of the many different tools on it.

Lastly, but not least, don’t forget to pack the toilet paper.
