A town on the trip north that catches you eye is Rockhampton. Rocky as it is known as by the locals, is famous for beef, and not just any type of steer- the |Brahman. This type comes from the Asian sub-continent and is sturdy and well acclimatised to the heat of northern QLD. Rocky is famous for having the bulls and it celebrates this association with many massive statues throughout the main streets paying homage to the amazng Brahman. Of course, you would be crazy not to stop in a local pub and have a meal (steak of course). We all had a great meal of a 300g steak for only $12 each which was tasty and a bargain!
